Experiment with facade

So I recieved the targa files for the cut-outs/alpha channels that I keep mentioning as the main source of the facade design. I decided to do a little exploration into both the shape of the facade, the cut-out patterns and the different compositions that could me made with them.

I started by first photoshopping the images slightly, saving them as JPEGs and printing them out:

Then arranging them in different compositions until I found one that I particularly liked:

Final composition:

Close-up photographs:

And finally, I put them separate pieces together, and cast a light behind them in imitation of "natural" light in the environment in which my building resides, to rather interesting results that I feel would look great with my design.

With a more spread out light source (the ambient light in the room)

With one primary light source, a battery powered torch located 1.5 meters away.

I attempted to 3D render the facade onto four sides of a cube shape in order to illustrate how it would look in real life, however, Photoshop did not allow for the manipulation I needed, as much as I tried. The cube shape cannot be altered to be smaller than the image, nevertheless here is what was rendered, though keep in mind the cube would be smaller and several small alterations would have to be made to accomodate the design.
