After unsuccessfully attempting to find the locations of the kitchens in the apartment blocks on my site via the internet I had to pursue alternative means. I called the real estate agent who organized the Open Home I went to on Mahuhu Crescent (the street where one of the apartment blocks on my site was) and she told me that the layout of the apartments in that area was virtually the same as the one I visited. Namely, the kitchen was the the first "room" you entered, meaning it was an open plan living area with the kitchen to the sharp left or right of the door depending on the orientation of the apartment. With her help I was able to identify which of the rooms in my photographs were kitchens.
I intend to use this information to further explore my idea of sustenance by linking my design to evidence of sustenance all around us, not just in my family unit example. Showing that no matter where you are, inside, outside, in a park, in a residential area... You always need sustenance.
