Rather than just having the shape of the blanket inform my design, perhaps I should study the form as well, as blankets are maleable and their free form allows for a variety of shapes. They are not constrained and represent a certain "chaos" in themselves.
The picnic basket on the other hand, is an enclosed space, cold and dark and mainly used for storage. This particular type of "order" would be in contrast to the picnic blanket. In this case we could consider the picnic basket a "box" like structure and the blanket a "blob" like structure. Further explorations of this idea would benefit my design, perhaps the blanket could be used as a shelter, a child's fort? Either way the contrast between the two main aspects of the "dinner" should yield interesting results.
Likewise, I could explore different ways in which my design will affect my site. Will it sit in the middle? Will it be propped up against a wall, or completely interupting the apartment arrangement? Perhaps the interior of the apartments (of which I have seen, thanks to the Open Home) can somehow inform the exterior, where my design is located?
I have added a loop animation script to my "blankets" which has proved very effective and striking, however I am unable to take a video of the effect currently, so screenshots will have to suffice.
The view from the interior of the tent like structure I have temporarily constructed.
