Joanna's interpretation of the idea of "waking up" was focused on the movement of the subconcious to the awakening consciousness via the light transition. Thus creating the feeling of a "new space" once shed of the mental fortress that was built up during sleep.
Her design would be located on top of one of the highest buildings in the designated site, with the aid of a cantilever it would hang from the side of the building, utilizing a vast quantity of light and incorporating materials such as concrete and perspex. In Second Life, her design appears much more simple, with enclosing black walls, which, upon the "wake" command, go from blocking light - transluscent - gone. In this she tells a story of the subconscious awakening.
The design speaks of a powerful message, which is achieved in a simple manner, however the excectution within Second Life did not match up to the description of the site in real life. The Second Life site was much darker, as well as being positioned firmly on the ground, whilst in real life the intention was for a larger amount of light as well as the added experience of extreme height.
